Solid tribute to Gerry Mulligan David Larsen – The Mulligan Chronicles

Solid tribute to Gerry Mulligan David Larsen – THE MULLIGAN CHRONICLES:   I don’t believe I’ve ever heard a more solid tribute to Gerry Mulligan than baritone saxophonist David has put together for us… catch a few moments of the performances on this promo trailer for the album…

You’ll find well over 100 videos of performances by David when you SUBSCRIBE to the David Larsen YouTube channel… an essential if you’re a fan of saxophone.

In addition to David’s rich baritone sax, you’ll also hear Dave Glenn on trombone, Bill Mays playing piano, Dean Johnson’s bass and Ron Vincent doing drums, and on tunes like the opener, “Walkin’ Shoes“, you’ll find a spring in your step that you might have forgotten was there!

The lively pace on “Rico Apollo“, one of Mulligan’s later compositions, will captivate your ears and have you dancin’ ’round whatever room you’re in when you listen to it… I totally fell in love with it.

If down-home bluesy is what you’re lookin’ for, you’ll find “Out Back Of The Barn” a very pleasurable excursion… David’s rich tones on the bari and the group’s solid performance will make this a song that jazz DJ’s everywhere will plugin to their playlists often!

Of the thirteen excellent performances offered up, it was “Festive Minor” that got my vote for personal favorite… David’s love for Mulligan’s music and his years of dedicated research just shine on through.

I give David and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99… get more information on David’s website.    Rotcod Zzaj
