Skillful versatile jazz guitar David Boswell – THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY: I am absolutely impressed with guitarist David Boswell’s creativity on his latest release… before we move on to that skillful versatile jazz treat, though, here’s a clip from an earlier album that shows David’s style up close and personal…
…since you’re there already, I would strongly suggest that you SUBSCRIBE to David’s YouTube channel; I did it, right away.
You’ll hear David’s electric, acoustic and synthesized guitars; MB Gordy drums and percussion; Jimmy Haslip and Bart Samolis on bass; Scott Kinsey, Mitchel Forman and Otmaro Ruiz Piano and Keyboards; Gary Novak Drums; and Andy Snitzer Saxophone… David’s guitar on the intro to the 6:21 “A Los Angeles Minute” is especially calming, segueing to a nice full-bodied tune that you’ll be playing over and over again (and so will jazz DJ’s the world over)!
There’s a beautifully laid-back feel to the opening original by David, “Miraculous“… MB’s percussion is pertinent, and the movements in the piece are absolutely captivating.
What I enjoyed most about the title track, “The Story Behind The Story“, is the “buildup”… you (and your ears) will be “hanging on the edge” through the entire 7:28 length of the tune!
I spun through the album three times, and it was (very) evident by the first go-round that my choice for personal favorite of the nine David offers up for our jazz enjoyment would be the lively and upbeat “Los Olivos“; Mitchel’s piano work on this tune is something I’m truly envying… an absolutely tasty piece of jazz.
I give David and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98. Get more information on David’s page for the album. Rotcod Zzaj
