Revolutionary sonic visions Feral Luggage – Diaspora Focii

Revolutionary sonic visions Feral Luggage – DIASPORA FOCII:  One thing I can tell you about this amazing group of high-energy players is that they truly DO provide you with revolutionary sonic visions… the very best way to become familiar with their improvisation skills, of course, is to WATCH what they’re doing… here’s the video for the album…

You’ll find a LOT of other performances and recordings when you SUBSCRIBE to the Mika Ponte YouTube channel, which I strongly recommend you do.

Since I’ve played with many rowdy renegades (like Ernesto Diaz-Infante, Rent Romus, Davey Williams and LaDonna Smith) myself, I know that the slow lead-in to the opening salvo, “Spirit Aligned Truth“, is an excellent example of just where improvised crazy can go, lol… the players (Mika Pontecorvo – guitar, electronics; Kersti – sax, whistles; Adriane Pontecorvo – cello; Mark Pino – drums, percussion; Elijah – bass and Patrick Talesfore Jr – drums, percussion) build the tune very nicely, then at about the 2:30 mark, the piece just takes off on a wild ride that even improv veterans will find highly attractive!

I particularly liked performances like the 8:43 “North Desert Border Storm“… there are sections where the guitars bring back memories of Captain Beefheart’s antics and Frank Zappa on Hot Rats, but the group has it’s own unique sound and it sounds much more like “experimental folk metal” to me.

Looking for excellent sonic backdrops for your dreams (or nightmares)?  You’ll find “Mining the Radio of Dreams” digs down deep into your subconscious and reveals new horizons filled with the brilliance of life lived well!

I had to listen twice through the entire album (with my headphones ON) to make my choice for personal favorite of the 5 (long) performances offered up… the background of superb industrial sounds merged together with flashing guitar wonderment on the 12:05 “Still Dreaming” made the tune an easy pick.

I give Feral Luggage a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98.  Get more information on the BandCamp page for the album.   Rotcod Zzaj
