Pretty passionate free jazz Adam Nolan Trio – Prim and Primal

Pretty passionate free jazz Adam Nolan Trio – PRIM AND PRIMAL:  As always, I get excited when new artists slide through my mail-slot… alto-saxophonist Adam leads this trio, joined by Derek Whyte on bass and Dominic Mullan doing drums, giving you some pretty passionate free jazz, to be sure… to check them out up-close and personal, watch this promo video first, please…

If you enjoyed that performance, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Adam’s YouTube channel, too, where you’ll find a LOT more greatness to behold.

What was immediately noticeable to me is just how accessible the trio’s work is… you’ll understand what I mean when you listen to the 9:37 “The Modern Jazz Trio“… after a short lead-in from Adam, Derek’s bass and then drums from Dominic join in one of the sweetest free-form jazz trios you’ve ever listened to… jazz DJ’s everywhere will be choosing this for late-night airplay, I have NO doubt!

Fuel will be added to your internal fires as you listen to the incendiary performances on the closer, “Kung Fu Master Vs The Ape“… you will realize immediately that you’re in the presence of improvisational masters on this moving song.

It was the longest song on the release, “Expand the Tempo” (which clocks in at 11:28) that got my vote for personal favorite of the eight (long) jazz journeys offered up… you’ll be a part of their conversation, because the ARE talking to you on this genuine improv gem!

I give Adam and his musical cohorts a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this fine album.  Get more information on Adam’s website.                                     Rotcod Zzaj
