Passionate joyful bebop jazz Christopher Hollyday – Telepathy

Passionate joyful bebop jazz Christopher Hollyday – TELEPATHY:  There’s no question but that Christopher’s striking alto saxophone work will be communicating with you… all you need do is scope out his rendition of Bud Powell’s “Hallucinations” to hear, in full clarity – despite the title of the tune, what he’s saying to you… no nightmares here, just sheer joyful bebop jazz!

To really get up close & personal with Christopher’s playing, watch the video for his performance of the opening track, Freddie Hubbard’s “One Of Another Kind“…

…many of the other videos from this August, 2018 performance are also available on Christopher’s YouTube channel, so be sure you SUBSCRIBE to his channel!  I did.  You won’t BELIEVE the fire-hot tempos the players achieve on this superb piece of music!

Christopher has a stellar crew of players with him on the recording… Joshua White doing piano, Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet, Rob Thorsen playing bass and Tyler Kreutel doing drums, and nowhere is their exceptional jazz talent more evident than on the 4:47 closer, Charlie Parker’s “Segment“… the only complaint is that it’s too short… but, that’s why we have a “replay” button, right?  Christopher’s alto just SOARS on this performance.

My personal favorite of the six songs offered up, though, is the mighty mellow “I Got The World On A String“… Gilbert’s trumpet is superb, and Christopher even does some excellent double-time runs on his alto for this piece… full of passion and the glory that jazz is!

I give Christopher and his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.98 for this fine release.  Get more information on Christopher’s website.          Rotcod Zzaj
