marvelously mature original jazz Jonathan Barber – In Motion

marvelously mature original jazz Jonathan Barber – IN MOTION:  When previewing music for possible review, I’m especially looking for original compositions, as they are (for me) the ultimate in the expressions of artistry.  Drummer Jonathan has created one of the most marvelously mature original jazz albums of the decade… since it’s not due for release until the 2nd of August, 2024, video performance aren’t posted yet… so, I (most strongly) encourage you to check out this live drum solo from a year or so ago to get a feel for his high-talent playing…

I also recommend that you SUBSCRIBE to Jonathan’s YouTube channel, where you can view over 70 videos… excellent channel.

There’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll find the 4:55 “Liberty” totally satisfying… Jonathan and his Vision Ahead band (guitarist Andrew Renfroe, pianist Taber Gable, bassist Matt Dwonszyk and  tenor saxophonist Matt Knoegel) set your mind in a trance-like state, where you’ll soon find yourself stepping right along to this excellent high-energy tune!

After my second listen through the entire album, it wasn’t difficult at all to make my selection for personal favorite of the ten tantalizing tunes… the 5:05 opener, “Radar“, sets the tone for the album, and the band displays very soulful call and response that will keep you totally engaged… I absolutely loved this song.

I give Jonathan and his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99, for this very collectible album.  Get more information on Jonathan’s Spotify channel as it becomes available (below).
