Lynn Yew Evers soothing original solo piano Lynn Yew Evers – Sunset Breeze

Lynn Yew Evers soothing original solo piano Lynn Yew Evers – SUNSET BREEZE: I’ve been a (totally) dedicated fan of Lynn’s ever since I reviewed her “Elysian” album last year… she conveys a passion that few players ever realize… just listen to her powerful and strident first notes on the 4:36 “Oriental Moon“, and you’ll know that Lynn knows right where she wants to take your emotions… I absolutely loved this piece – particularly when she keeps that power-chord coming back through the composition.

Although the video below is from 2016, at the NW Songwriter sessions, I think it gives you a perfect picture of just how involved and dynamic a player Lynn is…

…no hesitation, straightforward playing that is oh-so attractive to our ears – and our souls, folks!

I also found the 4:17 “Eternity” to be totally engaging… I’m sure it reflects some of the time Lynn spent in her youth in Malaysia, and I know (from having lived there for over fifteen years) that it brings back memories of my own times in ChunCheon, Korea… her chords are just wonderful on this composition, and I’ve no doubt that awards will forthcoming for this – hopefully soon.

Having watched, listened to and reviewed (literally) hundreds of pianists, as well as playing a bit myself along the way, I can tell you that they aren’t “greats” until they get past “the playing”, and touch the edges of our reality with their spirits… a song that definitely accomplishes that point in fluidity is the opener, “The Dancing Doll“… it only clocks in at 3:18, but you will feel the same passion the magical doll does in her dance.

It was one of the shorter pieces that got my vote for personal favorite, though… “Ocean Wind“, and the amazing sense of power it projects through Lynn’s talented hands, will carry you away (most pleasantly, I might add) on the high seas of emotional joy… another (very) award-worthy song!  You’ll be very happy to have Lynn’s wonderful new album… it’s a keeper, to be sure!

I give Lynn a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this excellent 2018 release.  Get more information, listen to the samples and purchase the album direct from the artist at Lynn’s page for the album.      Rotcod Zzaj
