Highly creative jazz adventure Myriad3 – Vera

Highly creative jazz adventure Myriad3 – VERA: The keyword that I’ve always used for this high-energy jazz group from Canada is – “creative”… my most recent review of their exceptional jazz works is in issue # 163, and this September, 2018, release just enhances that impression, especially on tunes like the intriguing “Tamboa“… the percussion that drives the tune throughout the 5:12 length hearkens back to the greatest days (& months & years) of jazz, to be sure.

Though it’s not from the album, you can get a glimpse of their playful/lively spirits together in this short rehearsal clip…

…since you’re there already, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to their YouTube channel, too.

The group is keyboardist Chris Donnelly, bassist Dan Fortin, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Ernesto Cervini, and they explore the very core of mellow jazz on the beautiful 6:27 “Total“, one of my favorite compositions (yet) in 2019!

Chris’s piano intro to the fantastic opener, “Pluie Lyonnaise” segues very nicely into fully sensitive trio work, with each of the players shining forth brilliantly… this is (absolutely) my personal favorite of the ten songs offered up for your jazz edification.

I give Myriad3 a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99. Get more information about this high-talent group at the Alma Records page for Myriad3. Rotcod Zzaj
