Hallmark improvised jazz Shawn Maxwell – J Town Suite

Hallmark improvised jazz Shawn Maxwell – J TOWN SUITE:  Shawn has been reviewed frequently in our pages, most recently on his “Music In My Mind” album, where he got high marks, to be sure.  His new release, due out officially on 13 October, 2023, is his 12th album.  No videos were available for the new release, but to get a feel for his dynamic skills, I highly recommend that you watch this earlier video first…

You can enjoy many more of his high-talent performances when you SUBSCRIBE to Shawn’s YouTube channel, too. (I’ve been there for a few years now).

In addition to Shawn’s superb alto/soprano sax and flute work, you’ll also hear Collin Clauson on nord, Michael Barton doing bass and Greg Essig on drums and percussion… I totally dug all eight tunes, but found the spooky (and somewhat unsettling) “Ghost Mall on Jefferson” to be my personal favorite.. full-bodied and oblique!

You’ll find this album on Shawn’s “Hearnow” soon… it gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.
