When I say “genre defying”, there’s no question about it; just listen to the superb work of the group (Pat Petrillo – drums & percussion, Scott Ambush – bass, Blake Aaron – guitar, Matt Rohde – keys, Pat Petrillo – additional keys, Mike Cordone – trumpet, Lemar Guillary – trombone, Scott Mayo – tenor sax and Phillip Wack –
alto sax) on the stellar 4:23 “On the Regular“… it’s anything but “regular”… a superb tune!
I had no doubt as to my choice for personal favorite of the eleven exciting songs offered up; as soon as I started spinning the 4:29 “Late Night Diner“, and heard the organ cranking the voltage up, I knew it would be “the one”… splendid horns, with the kind of late-night after-hours vibe you get when you’ve been out on the town until the wee hours. GREAT song.
