freely flowing jazz funk fun Christian Fabian Trio – Hip To The Skip

freely flowing jazz funk fun Christian Fabian Trio – HIP TO THE SKIP:  This great new trio, led by bassist Christian, gives you some of the most freely flowing jazz funk you’ll ever listen to… it also features Matt King on keys and Jason Marsalis on drums.  To learn more about how the music was put together and how the album came to be, watch the three players explain it for you…

There are several other great videos when you SUBSCRIBE to Christian’s YouTube channel… I signed up right away.

The adventure begins with an original by Christian, the title track, “Hip To The Skip“… the energy they project on this 6:19 jazz gem is palpable, and will have you up on your feet and dancing immediately.  I totally fell in love with this tantalizing song!

Their treatment of Zawinul’s “Mercy Mercy” is absolutely fantastic; filled with the kind of soulful playing that only masters can provide.  Joe would be proud, I have no doubt.

After the first spin through the eleven exciting tracks, I had no doubt that my personal choice for favorite is Matt’s 4:00 original composition, “Incognito“… totally engaging from the first note, I predict that this tune will win awards!

A great jazz journey, this trio gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  The album releases on 1 February, 2024, only a few days away.  You can purchase) it on the Spotify page (below), or listen to all the tracks on this promo page.
