Exciting jazz house concert LaVon Hardison – LIVE SHOW REVIEW: I got an invitation from a long-time friend of mine (thanks, Michelle) to take my 1966 GTO for a spin out into the countryside… she had been notified (late in the game) of this exciting jazz house concert in the backwoods out behind Yelm, Washington… as quaint as that location might sound, I can tell you with all certainty that jazz vocalist supreme LaVon Hardison and her musical pals (Eric Verlinde-piano; Jeff Busch-Drums and Osama Afifi-Bass) are among the hippest players you’ll find anywhere on the planet…
One of the reasons I so dig house concerts is that you can actually meet & “hang” with the players… I arrived a tad early, so I was able to talk with LaVon at some length… ultra-cool… in fact, she handed an album (“Come Together”) off to me that will be reviewed in an upcoming issue…
What made this afternoon so special, though, is the high-spirit with which LaVon and her players approach each performance with… as you’ll see in the short video captures below, they’re not (at all) afraid to “have fun with it”…
You can learn much more about this vibrant and soulful jazz singer on LaVon’s website… this house show grouping gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99! Rotcod Zzaj
