Deliciously delightful Americana Junior Burke – Nothin’ But

Deliciously delightful Americana Junior Burke – NOTHIN’ BUT:   Junior and his players have put together one of the most deliciously delightful Americana experiences you’ll ever have on this new release… on my review of his pre-album single, “Any Eyes But Mine“, I called his playing style “languid” & when he and Billy McKay put it all together, it becomes one of the most familiar and welcoming sonic journeys you will find in 2021.

As I listen to “Black-eyed Susan” (pre-sale is scheduled for 9 April, 2021, and you can soon hear the album on Junior’s Spotify page; in the meantime, here’s a link for listening now at Bongo Boy Records) my mem’ries of loves past and present are amplified with emotions both sad & sweet – exactly what Americana is all about!

The opener, “Vandalia”, a well-crafted song about a prison in Illinois, has shades of Johnny Cash; excellent guitars and a display of excellent lyrical talent… DJ’s of many persuasions will be plugging this tune into their playlists often, I predict.

I found the interaction between the bass and guitar on the title track, “Nothin’ But”, to be totally enchanting… it was really nice to hear the subtle notes from the harmonica on this piece, too (one of my favorite instruments for this kind of music).  This tune easily won my vote for personal favorite of the seven sweet songs Junior offers up for our enjoyment!

Learn more about this album on Junior’s page at Bongo Boy Records… I give it a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Rotcod Zzaj
