This album is far more than “chill” (though it has some elements of that as well)… music therapists will be integrating Chuck’s songs into their sessions often, particularly pieces like the 9:28 title track and closer, “Mindfulness“… what’s most striking about Wild’s compositions is the perfect “pacing”… no hurried-up approach, and a purity in performance seldom achieved by other players in this genre.
It may seem an odd thought, but Chuck says (on his bio page) that “The ultimate compliment to me is that people fall asleep to my music“… as you listen to the deep tones on “Life in the Slow Lane“, you may find yourself nodding off – and that’s OK… I would MOST strongly recommend that you listen to this piece with your headphones on, so you can catch every tranquil nuance of Chuck’s performance before you drift away to serenity!
There was (absolutely) no doubt in my mind what my choice for personal favorite on this album was going to be… of the six (long) tunes offered up, it was “The Wisdom of Kindness” that totally captured my ears and filled my heart with joy… it’s as if you are witnessing the birth of something new in the universe.
