Creative inventive memories of Monk Vito Dieterle and Joel Forrester

Creative inventive memories of Monk Vito Dieterle and Joel Forrester – STATUS SPHERE:  I just finished a review of Vito’s “Anemone” album, where his soulful tenor sax work got high marks… on this new album (released on March 1st, 2020), his magical reeds are paired up with piano vet Joel Forrester, and their creative and inventive memories of Monk will bring you total sonic delight.

While I didn’t find LIVE videos (hint! hint!), you can listen to all the tracks from the album when you SUBSCRIBE to the Vito Dieterle & Joel Forrester topic channel… their pacing is pure perfection on tunes like Thelonius’s “Crepuscule With Nellie“… every note is in synch, and if you listen to it with your headphones on, you’ll be able to catch every note quite nicely!

A totally upbeat and swinging “Don’t Ask Me Now” (based on “Ask Me Now”, by Thelonious) will be an absolute favorite for jazz DJ’s at stations all across the world due to it’s 3:37 length… I predict this one will be getting some MAJOR airplay.

There was no doubt in my mind what my choice for personal favorite of the dozen tunes offered up was going to be… their performance on Monk’s “Pannonica” is THE best rendition I’ve ever heard of that mighty mellow tune!

If you’re looking for an album to gift someone to expose them to jazz the way it should be… this is IT!  I give Vito and Joel a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information about the album as it becomes available at Vito’s website.            Rotcod Zzaj
