catchy rhythmic Latin jazz Ron Rieder – Latin Jazz Sessions

catchy rhythmic Latin jazz Ron Rieder – LATIN JAZZ SESSIONS:  On a rainy Pacific Northwest morning like this, there’s nothing more refreshing than the catchy rhythmic Latin jazz that composer Ron Rieder has put together on this upcoming (March 4th, 2024) release.  Unfortunately, there don’t appear to be any videos of this fantastic group… and what a fine set of players Ron has assembled for his debut release… (Fernando Brandão – flute; Gerson Lazo-Quiroga – bass; Alain Mallet – piano; Ricardo Monzon – percussion; Claudio Ragazzi – guitar; Ron Reid – steel drums; Oscar Stagnaro – bass; Mike Tucker – tenor saxophone and Mark Walker – drums).  All I could find was a video of Gerson performing live earlier this year…

One of the strongest Latin jazz tunes I’ve listened to (yet) in 2024 is the 5:10 opener, “Un Coco Loco“… this tune TOTALLY moved me, and had me up on my feet dancin’ ’round my studio in only moments… I predict that this song will be nominated for (and WIN) awards!

It was easy for me to make my pick for personal favorite of the ten tantalizing original compositions Ron and his players offer up for us… the 6:46 “From Dawn to Dusk” takes us on a groove ride that will never be forgotten; Mike’s tenor sax on this tune is rich, full-bodied and absolutely captivating.

Ron and his players get a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating from me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this memorable debut album.  Get more information and purchase it digitally or CD on Ron’s page for the release (below)…
