Delightfully blossoming solo piano talent Faith Angelina – Notes From Zion

Delightfully blossoming solo piano talent Faith Angelina – NOTES FROM ZION: I am a very lucky fellow, indeed… when I reviewed Faith’s first delightful solo piano album, “Reaching 12“, I was highly impressed (to say the least); she’s worked some many months to create her newest musical message to the world, and the new album just shimmers with promise and hope, as well as showing her marvelous growth as a composer/performer in such a short time… keep your ears on this young lady, folks – she’s a rising star!

What’s most notable about her work on the new release is that her “pacing” delves deeper into her inner perspectives, and gives the listener insights into the creative process itself… just listen to the beautiful “Ensign Peak” – Faith’s expert use of overtones on this composition helps you view life from a higher vantage point, and you’ll grow right along with her as you listen to this tune over and over again.

With the sheer beauty of the world around her in mind, Faith composed a tribute to the amazement she feels when she visits Utah’s Zion National Park, pictured on the left… “The Living Planet” will help you realize her ability to use her musical talent to bring the awe of it all to life for the listener.  Again, her pacing is perfect, and the recording is absolute perfection.

Faith brings the majesty of a trek through Zion National Park right into your ears on her song “The Narrows”… this is all part and parcel of the emotions she feels when hiking in the midst of such absolute beauty… as she says on the album cover… “The majestic views of the stone walls surrounding you create a mixture of thoughts and emotions.”  Right at the 1:24 mark, she weaves some very powerful chords into the texture to give you a sense of the compelling views she is witnessing.  This is (truly) one of the most inspiring solo piano originals I have heard in 2018, and I have no doubt you will find it so, as well; it’s definitely among my top solo piano picks for the year!

The song that gets my vote for personal favorite of the dozen offered up, though, is the title track, “Notes From Zion”… she approaches this composition with the spirit solidly behind her playing, and (easily) conveys the joy of that communion to the listener.  I’m absolutely thrilled to hear such progress in a young artist, and can tell you that you’ll be hearing much, MUCH more from Faith in the months and years to come.

I give Faith a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with a (perfect) “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 5.00… she gets my “PICK” for “piano artist to watch”.  Get more information as it becomes available (official release date is 3 January, 2019) on Faith’s website.           Rotcod Zzaj
