Ambient electronic excellence Nicholas Gunn – Riding The Thermals

Ambient electronic excellence Nicholas Gunn – RIDING THE THERMALS:  What a difference a decade makes… I first reviewed Nicholas’s stunning work (way back) in issue # 67… I had very favorable impressions then, but on this new (January, 2019) release, he and his guest vocalist, Alina Renae, take ambient electronic to a totally new level of excellence, as you’ll see/hear when you watch a remix of “Older”…

…the music/video weave on this one is just fantastic, and truly tells the story.  If you want to watch/listen to more of Nicholas’s work, be sure and SUBSCRIBE to his  YouTube channel, too!

There are some great interviews with him on his website, so settle back and read a couple of them… I’ll come back and add the sample links in when I’m notified that it’s gone hot, but I can tell you (with certainty) that you’re going to just love the title track, “Riding The Thermals”… I strongly advise you to listen to this with headphones on, at HIGH volume… you’ll be transported to new horizons within the first few notes, and actually be able to see the sparkling rays of the sun as you fly onward to freedom.

One of the songs that best illustrates Nicholas’s insight into what will get listeners to chill out deeply is the marvelous 4:56 “Ibiza Sunset”… block out all around you, and do as he suggests (“Bliss out with me friends“) on the fantastic video for this song…

blissing out” is exactly what you’ll do as you listen to this performance – over & over & OVER again, as you hit replay on this one… absolutely one of my favorite ambient electronic tunes for 2019… just amazing!

It is the sense of orchestral depth, as well as the moving guitar passages on “Saint Lucia” that made it my personal favorite of the ten aural adventures Nicholas offers up for you… full of boundless energy, this piece will surely win awards… remember, you heard it here first.

I give Nicholas and Alina a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this superbly crafted/performed music of the spheres.  Get more information on Nicholas’s website.           Rotcod Zzaj
