Absolutely amazing ambience Nathan Speir – Smiles From A Melancholy Man

Absolutely amazing ambience Nathan Speir – SMILES FROM A MELANCHOLY MAN:  You’ll hear a plethora of instruments on Nathan’s latest CD release… piano, cello, synths, acoustic electric guitar, electric bass guitar, singing bowls, flutes, and even some organic field recordings all work together to create absolutely amazing ambience for your soul.  My most recent review of his work was for his “Finding A Way To Be” album from 2020, and he got high marks from me there… watch and listen to Nathan’s beautifully sculptured work on “Anxious for Nothing” first…

Nathan did the video editing, too, so it’s clear he has significant skills in that arena as well… if you enjoyed that, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Nathan’s YouTube channel to find many more enchanting performances and recordings.

You will (literally) FEEL the gentle breezes blowing as you listen to “Zephyrs In The Wetland” (with your headphones on, of course)… Nathan’s laid-back tempo and clear vision for the composition will make this a favorite for DJ’s of all persuasions across the globe!

One of the descriptions Nathan uses for his creations is “ancient chamber music”… on the moving and emotionally evocative “Life Affirmative“, you will realize that you are in the presence of a true sonic master… the fruits of his studies of world religions come into play on this wonderfully calming performance, too… I particularly enjoyed his use of synthesizers on this song.

Piano lovers will find the opener, “Lulled In A Sunrise“, especially attractive… the recording is flawless, and the integration of the guitar against the crisp keyboard notes will definitely awaken something in your heart… if I were on the nominating committees, this song would be recommended for an award – and would WIN!

I listened through the album three times before making my decision about what my personal favorite of the ten sonic wonders would be… the 5:51 “Second To Last” easily won my vote… there’s a swirling undercurrent in the piece that sounds (to me, at least) like the outer edges of our galaxy… as mentioned before – you need to listen to all these fantastic creations with your headphones on!

Nathan’s musical wizardry gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating from me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information on Nathan’s website.   Rotcod Zzaj
