Raven King intense engaging DIY Raven King – Self-Titled

Raven King intense engaging DIY Raven King – SELF-TITLED:  This is a very entertaining eleven song release featuring AJ Bucci on Bass and Vocals, Will Boisseau: Drums and Vocals and Gerrit Curti: Guitar and Vocals that hearkens back to the earliest days of D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) (a scene that I was a big part of, at least in the home-taper arena)… what I totally dig about their playing is the “changes”… they take you in directions you haven’t anticipated, particularly on tunes like “Marble“… the vocal weave in, around & through the soaring guitars, bass & drums show high musical talent, and won’t disappoint even the most hardcore grunge-ist.

Another fine tune, with a video to accompany it is the 4:50 “Drool“… watch their performance to get some insight to just how these “odd-ists” capture your ears…

…all the masks were handmade, but (of course) it’s their stellar performance that made this one “click” for me… (you’ll click it more than once, too)!  The keyword for their album is “refreshing”!

It’s the intricate percussion and slow build on the closer, “Armilla“, that made it my personal favorite of the eleven tunes offered up for your aural pleasure, though.  What the band make clear through the arrangements and high-talent playing is that they’re in this for the long haul… keep your ears on this band, folks.

I give Raven King a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.97… get more information on their Bandcamp page.        Rotcod Zzaj
