prime poetry, piano – Pat Battstone and Antonella Chionna – The Voice of Robert Desnos

prime poetry, piano Pat Battstone and Antonella Chionna – THE VOICE OF ROBERT DESNOS: I’m sure there are many in our readership who are not aware that my original performance mode was as a spoken-word artist, which makes this fantastic trek through the works of poet Robert Desnos a true pleasure for me to listen to… this (once again) is a pre-release review that was provided to me by my friend (& artistic associate) Pat.  There are only a couple of samples available, but you can view a live performance of “Spaces Inside Sleep” on YouTube:

As you’ll see, the duo is far and above all the artists of this nature vying for your attention!  It’s absolutely clear that both of them are immersed in the moment in their hallmark performance of this piece from Robert Desnos – simple, yet beautiful.

The one sample that is available comes from Pat’s website, and (as it turned out) is my personal favorite of the dozen songs they offer up for your deeply moving trip into the etherspace; the opener, “If You Only Knew Far From Me“, clocks in at just over 9 minutes, giving both performers time to dig down deep into the emotions Robert was writing about. When it comes to spoken-word with piano, you just won’t find any better than this – ANYWHERE!

I don’t have an actual release date for this one yet, but it’s supposed to be release (sometime) in late Spring, 2017… I will return to this post and update it when the album is in launch phase.  If you are even a little-bit inclined towards music that digs down deep into the emotions of a poet, and interprets them flawlessly and with stellar energy – this one is for YOU!  I give Pat and Antonella a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this wonderful album!           Rotcod Zzaj
