Pam Asberry creative magical piano memories Pam Asberry – Seashells In My Pocket

Pam Asberry creative magical piano memories Pam Asberry – SEASHELLS IN MY POCKET:  When asked about recording an album, Pam used to tell folks “I don’t have an original bone in my body” (though deep inside, she knew better).  Only the first tune from her thirteen song all-original solo piano release, “Cozumel Blue Waters“, is available for sampling right now… but as you listen to it, her lifetime of playing experience shines ever-so-brilliantly through!  I just love her “right on time” pacing – it makes you feel like she’s right there in your living room, telling her story of a walk along coastal shores!  Another piece, “Monterey Morning“, is also about a pleasant day there in California… in fact, according to the liners, this was the first original piece she realized for this recording.

The brilliance of the high register notes and Pam’s use of magical, mystical overtones on ” Mysterious Caverns” is absolutely stunning, and as she moves on into the piece, you’ll easily be able to picture yourself moving through this fascinating world and on into the light that always comes at the end of the tunnel… a simple, but very beautiful piece of music that will get many repeated plays on my iPhone/car player!

Pam has been playing since a very early age… she started lessons at age 7, and is now a teacher of piano and clarinet at her own Asberry School of Music.  You will find many videos of her on YouTube, though I didn’t see any recordings from this new album… if and when they are pointed out to me, I will be sure to weave them back into this review.  Of the thirteen superb performances on this new album, it is one of the shorter tunes that got my vote for personal favorite… “The Mermaid’s Tears” uses firm chords that contrast very nicely against her lower register left-hand tones… a very inspiring piece of music that will help you realize who you are meant to be.  I give Pam a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this most enjoyable sonic adventure.  To learn more about Pam and her projects, visit her Pam Asberry website (it’s still under development, so visit often to learn more).       Rotcod Zzaj
