Magnificently memorable Latin jazz big band Antonio Adolfo – Encontros/Orquestra Atlantica

Magnificently memorable Latin jazz big band Antonio Adolfo – ENCONTROS/ORQUESTRA ATLANTICA:  When I reviewed Antonio’s  2017 tribute to Wayne Shorter, Hybrido, I deemed it an “instant classic”, because it’s (really) that good… you’ll hear more of a “big band” sound on this great new album, slated to release tomorrow, July 11th, 2018… tunes like the 4:21 “Luizao“, will melt your heart, and make you fall in love with the full-bodied sound of horns, I’ve no doubt!

As you listen to the opener, “Partido Samba-Funk“, you’ll hear some of the liveliest horn work you’ve ever listened to on the introduction to Antonio’s superb piano solo, along with high-flying flute as well.. certainly one of the best Latin jazz sounds I’ve heard (yet) in 2018.

A more nostalgic mood ensues on “Saudade“, yet the joy of life and the living of it wins out in the end run, to be sure… I absolutely LOVED the keyboard work on this fantastic tune!

If you want to hear something you can (easily) dance to, you’re going to totally groove out on “Africa Bahia Brasil“… as the title indicates, the song displays strong African influences, yet retains the unique Latin flavors of Brazil.  This is definitely my personal favorite of the ten offered up!

I give Antonio and his wonderful players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99… to get more information, visit Antonio’s page for the new release.             Rotcod Zzaj
