Dan Chadburn creative inspired piano art Dan Chadburn – HELD IN THE LIGHT:  Dan’s classical piano background has always been a cornerstone in his playing, for this writer, at least; but the thing that sets his works apart from “all the other keyboardists” is his dedication to creating a connection with the listener… you will most assuredly feel that on his rendition of the classic hymn “Amazing Grace“… what stands out most strongly for me is that even though this song is often played with a sombre treatment, Dan uses his masterful touch to make it come alive with the joy inherent in realizing the blessing… amazing, indeed!

Another tune from the album that stood out better with visuals (for this writer/listener, at least) is his concert improvisation of “Breath of Life“, which you can also watch below…

Dan’s rich and deep chords and tones on and English hymn (that I hadn’t heard before), “Breathe On Me, Breath of God“, made for the perfect album opener, and will convince even the most cynical listener that there is pure and abundant power in well-played solo piano music… the recording on this tune (as well as all the others) is flawless, and captures each and every overtone from the string-board.

Though I pulled away from “organized” religion many decades ago, my own schooling in music that was designed (by the Angels, some might say) to touch our oh-so-human hearts gave me a deep appreciation for players & singers who are able to bring visions of joy and inspiration to life, and Dan’s performance of the wonderful traditional hymn “How Great Thou Art” is a perfect example of how deeply some songs can reach us, even in a world often filled with strife… this is (to be sure) my personal favorite of the thirteen beautiful songs Dan plays for us on the album.

I give Dan a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, especially for piano lovers, and the “EQ” (energy quotient) rating is 4.99!  You can get more information about Dan and this latest release on the Dan Chadburn home page.        Rotcod Zzaj
